This meeting is designed to share information and answer questions parents and students might have about our virtual program and to clarify any misconceptions.

Our grade 9-12 program is fully accredited by the same accrediting agency as the rest of the school (The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools - SACS), but provided by the Florida Virtual School. Prior to the meeting, it is recommended that you visit their website (www.flvs.net), and follow the links where you will be able to “sample” various courses in a variety of subject areas.

This meeting is open to the public as well. So invite interested friends and families to learn more about this innovative and highly successful program.

ACCREDITATION UPDATE

Parents, teachers, students, Board members are invited to attend a special meeting to review findings from the various surveys and workshops that have been offered thus far. We will share your input about the school that will be used to develop a school improvement plan for the accreditation team visiting the school April 18-22 this year.

International Fair

On Friday, January 29 we will have an International Fair at school. We will be celebrating several different countries throughout the week and on Friday we would like to have food, music, art and games from the different countries. Friends and family are invited from 9:00 until 12:00. Dismissal is at 12:00 noon on that day. We would like for the students to come in their folkloric dresses and there will be dance presentations done by different groups. I am asking all families to help out with finger foods for 30 people. Just something small that only requires a toothpick or napkin from whatever country you like. Nothing that needs to be warmed or refrigerated please. If you could send your food item with your child on Friday morning, we will put it out for the celebration. If every family helps out with something small for 30 people, we should have enough for everyone.

If you have any items from the following countries that we can use for display, please send them to school so that we can make the school look as International as possible.

New student online testing system

Dear parents and students,

The staff of CAPS, have diligently been working towards our first session of standardized testing on-line. We are now officially ready and set-up. This is the very first time we are using this new testing system. No preparation is needed from parents or students other than getting to school on time and making sure the students get enough sleep and a decent breakfast.

Students in the Virtual program are to report to school at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 16th through Thursday, February 19th. It would be highly recommended for these students in the Virtual Program to use the 2 hours in the morning to continue with their classes at home. The testing schedule is as follows:

Monday, February 16, 8:00-10:00 Miss Shanu’s class

Tuesday, February 17, 8:00-10:00 Miss Linda’s class

Wednesday, February 18, 8:00-10:00 Miss Hanna’s class

10:00-11:30 Miss Lyndsay’s class & Miss Thirza’s class

Thursday, February 19, 8:00-10:00 Miss Jessie’s class

Friday, February 20, 8:00-10:00 Miss Mary’s class

All other classes during the day remain the same and the dismissal is the same. Please make sure that your child gets plenty of rest and gets to school on time during the testing week.

To all parents and students,

In order for us to meet the 180 required school days for accreditation, and as we had off as a school for Thanksgiving when the local schools did not, there will be school on Monday, February 16. The Children’s Carnival Parade starts and finishes early enough on Sunday, where the few students that attend can still have plenty of sleep and be ready for school on Monday.
